Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras)

In keeping with medieval tradition, Holy Trinity has often held a festive Shrove Tuesday dinner with a variety of themes. These dinners have sometimes included live music and people from outside the parish often join us. Images of one of these festive celebrations can be found here.

Spirituality during Lent

In addition to the usual socially distanced and masked evening Eucharist with the imposition of ashes on the first day of Lent, Holy Trinity offered “Ashes to go” for anyone who drove to the church and paused briefly next to the parking lot. Our interim Rector and Deacon were prepared to offer ashes and the accompanying prayers in the snow covered church parking lot.

Spirituality during Holy Week

In addition to stated worship on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Eve, Holy Trinity also offers a self-guided liturgy of the Stations of the Cross, using the beautiful stations in bronze and walnut, donated to the parish by the Dice family.

This liturgy, sometimes called “The Way of the Cross”, was also made available in a 36-minute online video. Many people found it a deeply moving experience to listen to the prayers along with the thoughtful devotional commentary offered by our Deacon, Rev. Dave Guilfoyle.
