The Arts Committee of Holy Trinity envisions the arts as a bridge between people and a way to reach out into the community as well as draw the community to Holy Trinity. Ever since the 1950s when our current building was constructed and then Rector Al Kershaw brought jazz music to Holy Trinity, many different kinds of musicians have performed for worship, recitals, and concerts in the excellent acoustical setting of the nave. The banner above shows a Friday night concert by the Miami University Jazz Band under direction of renowned saxophonist Prof. Jeremy Long.

In 2021, the Holy Trinity Arts Committee organized a new series of performances with the name “Red Door Community Concerts.” Music in this series embraces stylistic, ethnic, and performer diversity. All concerts are free and open to the public and are also professionally live-streamed on the Holy Trinity YouTube channel. Viewers are urged to respond to and comment on each concert by means of either electronic or paper survey instruments.

In order to feature professional artists without an admission fee, the “Red Door Community Concerts” series is supported by grants from the Oxford Community Foundation, the Butler Rural Community Connection, the Ohio Arts Council, and many private donations.

The Arts Committee envisions that other kinds of arts activities, including exhibits of photography, painting, sculpture, and ceramics will take place in the future.
