Spirituality During the Pandemic

Daily Evening Prayer and Compline

July 24, 2020

July 24, 2020

Traditionally, we have held daily lay-led Evening Prayer in the Chapel of St. Bede during Advent and Lent. With the onset of COVID-19, we began holding lay-led Evening Prayer (M,W,F,Sa) and Compline (led by our Rector and Deacon on T&R) on line. However, on Fridays during good weather in summer and autumn, we held the Evening Prayer service on the Poplar Street lawn of Holy Trinity church, using the Bishop’s guidelines for distance and masks. Parishioners and friends brought chairs and a copy of The Book of Common Prayer and joined us there.

Blessing of the Animals

Every year, near the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4), Holy Trinity invites anyone to bring a pet for blessing or have domestic animals blest by the Priest. This year, we held a “Drive-by Blessing” for any pets brought by parishioners or friends of the parish.

Ongoing Prayer Support

Holy Trinity’s Prayer Group prays regularly for anyone who asks for or is known to be in need of prayer support for any reason. This group of parishioners met once a week before the pandemic. It now continues its work for the parish and the world virtually while keeping physical distance. To request a prayer from Holy Trinity’s Prayer Group for yourself, a family member, someone you know, or for any reason, please feel free to contact Dorothy Samter by e-mail.
